Privacy

This is a personal website belonging to Barbi Walker-Walsh. It exists to publish writing. It is not a business, it sells nothing, and it is not interested in you beyond your reading.

What this site collects

No cookies. This site sets none. There is no consent banner because there is nothing to consent to.

No analytics. There is no Google Analytics, no tracking pixel, no fingerprinting, and no third-party script of any kind. Nobody is counting you.

No advertising, and no sale or sharing of personal informationfor advertising or any other purpose. This has never happened and is not planned.

Server logs. The site is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes standard technical request data — IP address, timestamp, browser type, and the page requested — in order to serve pages and defend against attacks. This is handled by Cloudflare under its own privacy terms and is retained only briefly. It is not used to build any profile of you.

If you leave your email address

There is a form on this site for hearing about the novel. It is not a newsletter and there is no schedule — the point is that when the book finds a publisher, the people who asked to know can be told.

If you use it, your email address is held by Kit, who run the list on my behalf, and it is used for that and nothing else. You will be asked to confirm by email before anything is stored permanently, so nobody can add you to it but you. Every message carries an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes you outright rather than marking you inactive.

Your address is never sold, never shared, never rented, and never used to advertise anything. If you would like it deleted before then, ask and it will be, the same day if I am not in the air.

If you write to me

If you send an email, I hold that email in order to reply to it, in the ordinary way that anybody holds their correspondence. It is not added to a mailing list, passed on, or used for anything else.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights over personal data relating to you — including the right to ask what is held, to have it corrected or deleted, to receive a copy, to object to its processing, and to complain to a supervisory authority. These rights are given by laws including the UK and EU General Data Protection Regulation, the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended, and comparable legislation elsewhere.

Given how little this site collects, most such requests will have a short answer. Ask anyway if you would like to: barbi@barbiwalkerwalsh.com. Requests are answered within one month.

Where a legal basis is required for handling the limited data described above, it is legitimate interest — serving the website securely and replying to correspondence. For the email list it is consent, given by you and withdrawable by you at any moment.

Children

This site is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.

International readers

The site is served from a global content delivery network, which means pages may be delivered from servers in a country other than your own. The technical request data described above may be processed in those locations.

Changes

This page was updated when the email form was added. If the site ever adds analytics, or anything else that collects information, it will be updated again before that happens, and it will say plainly what changed.
